Quickfire Games has announced that Prelude: Dark Pain will launch via Steam Early Access in the third quarter of 2026. The title is a new dark fantasy tactical RPG designed to reward clever playmaking through positional contemplations and status-driven combos. Battles in the game hang on a knife edge, offering rich gameplay mechanics that emphasize strategic depth over simple combat.
At launch, the developer intends to offer roughly 15 hours of gameplay, including the first act of the story and nine heroes with a combined 63 skills between them. By the time it reaches version 1.0, the game will feature all acts of Soren's tale, more than 20 heroes across eight class types, 20 factions, and 70 enemy types including bosses. The full release roadmap also includes world missions, raids, and a complete crafting system.

The developer adds that it intends to gradually raise the price as new features arrive, though no specific cost has been disclosed for the Early Access or full release versions. This pricing strategy suggests the game will evolve alongside its content, with costs likely increasing as the roster of heroes and factions expands significantly over time.
Prelude: Dark Pain is set to launch via Steam Early Access in the third quarter of 2026 according to Quickfire Games. The title fits within the gaming domain and aligns with recent trends in tactical RPG releases that emphasize complex mechanics and long-term content roadmaps for players.
