Kinetic Games released a major player character update for the horror game Phasmophobia on May 5. The update, designated as patch 1.000.034, introduces significant visual and mechanical changes to the game. This release brings new customization options and quality-of-life improvements to the title.

The update adds twelve new character models, split evenly between six male and six female options. These models feature adjustable hair and come with unique bios. Players can now equip new cosmetics including coats, shirts, trousers, piercings, hats, and glasses. A new player watch allows users to monitor sanity levels and contract time directly in the field.

Several gameplay mechanics have been adjusted in this patch. Flashlights are now held in the player’s left hand, and the minimum field of view has been increased to 70. The Prestige limit has been raised to 4000, allowing for extended progression. Physics have been added to doors, and players can now place equipment while standing. The transition to the dead state no longer uses a separate room, providing a seamless experience.

The update also includes specific changes for virtual reality users. The inventory belt has been removed, and teleport movement mechanics have been updated. Fixes for hand shaking, item grabbing, and UI issues have been applied to improve VR stability. Cursed Hollow cosmetic rewards are now available to all players, and ID Cards and Badges are equipped via the customization shop.

Kinetic Games has scheduled another patch for May 12 to address further bugs and visual adjustments. This upcoming release will focus on resolving specific VR and gameplay issues identified after the initial launch. The company continues to refine the game based on player feedback and technical performance data.
