Grinding Gear Games has announced Path of Exile 2 patch 0.5, titled 'Return of the Ancients', releasing on May 29, 2025. The update marks the last major content drop before the full 1.0 launch planned for 2026.

Complete endgame redesign with new league and Ascendancies

The patch introduces a complete endgame redesign featuring a structured Atlas and league-specific quests. A new league called 'Runes of Aldur' adds runesmithing and the Runic Ward mechanic. Two new Ascendancies debut: Spirit Walker for the Huntress and Martial Artist for the Monk. The update also includes an in-game build guide with import/export support.
