Nvidia and Microsoft are betting on AI to improve how older x86 Windows apps run on next-generation Arm-based PCs. The two companies outlined their plans at Computex and Build 2026 conferences on June 1.
AI agents convert x86 apps for Arm
Nvidia announced the RTX Spark Superchip SoC, a slimmed-down version of its Grace Blackwell platform for laptops and compact desktops. Microsoft showcased how agentic AI can help convert and validate x86 applications for better speed and compatibility on Arm systems.
Microsoft says 90 percent of the time people spend on Windows on Arm PCs is inside applications that run natively. The Prism emulator handles some older x86 programs, but legacy business apps and certain games still struggle under emulation.
Gamers get anti-cheat promise
Nvidia promises some anti-cheat compatibility for gamers on RTX Spark. This addresses a key concern for the gaming demographic as the company pushes into Arm-based Windows PCs.
Jensen Huang said, "The PC is being reinvented. For forty years, you launched apps. Click. Type. With RTX Spark and Microsoft Windows, you ask, and the PC does the work." Satya Nadella called RTX Spark "a real breakthrough for delivering unmetered intelligence to every home and every desk with Windows."
The AI agents are designed to handle real work across apps without constantly communicating with the cloud. Microsoft is not claiming AI will fix everything overnight, but the combination of new hardware and AI-driven conversion aims to ease the transition to Arm.
