GeForce Hotfix Driver 617.70 fixes display flickering and frame rate drops affecting high refresh rate gaming. This is important news for 360Hz monitor users as the driver fixes visual artifacts and frame rate irregularities that are affecting their gaming experience. We recommend to use this driver if you face these issues.

Driver update resolves visual artifacts and frame rate drops for high refresh rate users

GeForce hotfix driver is focused on solving two main issues on QHD, 1440p and 360Hz displays. NVIDIA confirmed that they fix an occasional black flash when playing on these 360Hz monitors. NVIDIA also fixed frame rate drop on 360Hz G-SYNC Pulsar monitors that were dropping down to 320 FPS.

  • Fixed Issue 1: QHD or 1440p displays running at 360Hz experiencing occasional black flash during gameplay
  • Fixed Issue 2: 360Hz G-SYNC Pulsar monitors experiencing FPS drops to 320 FPS instead of the full 360 FPS
  • Workaround: Choose 'Prefer Maximum Performance' option in the power section of 'Manage 3D Settings' in Control Panel

While they are working on a final driver solution, NVIDIA shared a temporary workaround for the black flash issue. You can select 'Prefer Maximum Performance' in the power section of 'Manage 3D Settings' in Control Panel. This will help with stabilizing your display output until the final driver fix is implemented.

The driver also has new G-SYNC Pulsar firmware that helps with motion clarity. According to NVIDIA, the new firmware brings 240Hz motion clarity to 1000Hz. NVIDIA mentioned that they fix some but not all cases of the black screen issue with this hotfix driver.

NVIDIA is currently looking into an issue with G-SYNC not working when your monitor comes out of sleep mode. They are able to reproduce the problem but don't have any ETA on the solution yet. We have mentioned NVIDIA GeForce Hotfix Driver 610.52 Fixes in our previous Nvidia coverage.
