MSI Shelves 5K 180Hz MPG 271KRAW18 Monitor Indefinitely

MSI has indefinitely shelved the MPG 271KRAW18, a high-end gaming monitor that promised a rare combination of 5K resolution and 180Hz refresh rates. This cancellation matters to buyers who wanted a single display for both sharp productivity work and fast-paced gaming without compromising on either front. The delay removes a key option from the premium 27-inch market, forcing enthusiasts to choose between lower refresh rates or lower resolutions for now.

High-end 5K Mini LED gaming display put on indefinite hold

The shelved monitor was designed around a 27-inch panel with a native 5120×2880 resolution. It featured a 2,304-zone Mini LED backlight system to deliver high contrast and bright highlights. MSI targeted this configuration for a DisplayHDR 1400 certification, allowing for peak brightness exceeding 1,400 nits. The panel also covered 98% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and offered a 0.5ms gray-to-gray response time.

Gigabyte also showed a similar spec monitor, the FM275K16P, at Computex. MSI has not confirmed the delay or given a reason for shelving the MPG 271KRAW18.

The original release window for the MPG 271KRAW18 was set for early January 2027. The indefinite hold means that specific model will not ship during that timeframe. Buyers looking for this exact combination of specs must wait for further updates or consider alternative products.
