MSI introduced the MAG 271KPD7, a 27-inch gaming monitor that offers two distinct resolution modes in a single panel. This dual-mode design lets users switch between high-fidelity visuals for creative work and high-refresh-rate gaming without buying two separate displays. This dual-mode capability allows users to switch between high-resolution productivity and high-refresh-rate gaming on a single screen, which can help optimize desk space and budget.

Dual-mode display switches between 5K productivity and 300 Hz gaming

The monitor uses a 26.9-inch Rapid IPS panel that serves as the foundation for its performance capabilities. In its native configuration, the display runs at 5K resolution (5,120 x 2,880) with a 75 Hz refresh rate. The 5K resolution mode offers high pixel density and wide color coverage, making it suitable for creative work such as photo editing or detailed interface tasks. Users can switch to WQHD (2,560 x 1,440) at 300 Hz with a single click, which reduces the pixel load to enable faster frame rates for competitive gaming.

Specifications

  • Panel: 26.9-inch Rapid IPS
  • Resolution: 5K (5,120 x 2,880) at 75 Hz
  • Gaming Mode: WQHD (2,560 x 1,440) at 300 Hz
  • Response Time: 0.5 ms GtG
  • HDR: VESA DisplayHDR 400 (500 nits peak)

MSI lists a minimum 0.5 ms GtG response time for the panel, which helps reduce motion blur during fast-paced scenes. The screen covers 95% of the DCI-P3 color space, 92.6% Adobe RGB, and 122.9% sRGB to support accurate color reproduction. It achieves 350 nits of SDR brightness and up to 500 nits in HDR, earning VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification. The monitor supports FreeSync Premium and is certified as G-Sync Compatible to prevent screen tearing.

Connectivity includes one DisplayPort 1.4a, two HDMI 2.1 ports, and one USB Type-C port with DisplayPort Alt Mode and 15 W Power Delivery. The stand supports tilt, swivel, pivot, and up to 130 mm of height adjustment for ergonomic positioning. Software tools like AI Vision, AI Crosshair, and AI Navigator are included to enhance the gaming experience. We touched on MSI MAG OLED 271QPX32 in our earlier Msi coverage.
