Mortal Shell 2 PC performance analysis reveals the RTX 5090 is the only GPU to consistently exceed 60FPS at Native 4K/Ultra settings.

Mortal Shell 2 PC Performance: RTX 5090 Only for Stable 4K
GAME PERFORMANCE

Playstack released Mortal Shell 2 last week, and the game demands serious hardware to run smoothly. PC players need to understand the performance baseline before buying, as the title is heavily GPU-bound. Even entry-level high-end cards face significant strain, while top-tier GPUs struggle to maintain consistent frame rates at high resolutions. Buyers should check their specific hardware against the benchmark results to avoid stuttering or low framerates.

RTX 5090 stands alone for consistent 4K frame rates

The game runs on Unreal Engine 5.2 and supports 4 and 3.0 for upscaling. is not supported, leaving AMD and NVIDIA users with specific optimization paths. The developers included a Hardware Ray Tracing setting in the options menu, but testing shows it does not appear to work. Players can adjust Shadows, Textures, View Distance, and Global Illumination to tweak visual quality.

Performance testing used an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D paired with GeForce 610.88 and Radeon Adrenalin Edition 26.7.1 drivers. The test suite included AMD Radeon RX 6900XT, RX 7900XTX, RX 9070XT, and NVIDIA RTX 2080Ti, RTX 3080, RTX 4090, RTX 5080, and RTX 5090. The analysis found that almost all tested GPUs could run the game at 60FPS at 1080p resolution. This makes 1080p a viable target for most modern graphics cards, though the GPU remains the primary bottleneck.

At 1440p with Ultra Settings, the top five GPUs maintained over 60FPS without trouble. The NVIDIA RTX 4090 averaged 63FPS at Native 4K with Ultra settings. The RTX 5090 was the only card to consistently exceed 60FPS at Native 4K/Ultra. The performance analyst noted, "At Native 4K/Ultra, the only GPU that can offer framerates over 60FPS at all times is the NVIDIA RTX 5090." This creates a clear hardware tier requirement for 4K players.

The game suffers from major Lumen artifacts and traversal stutters that were also present in the Open Beta. There is no built-in benchmark tool, so the analysis relied on a specific in-game area for testing. We looked at Mortal Shell 2 Open Beta PC earlier while tracking Playstack launches. Players should expect visual glitches and frame drops regardless of their hardware tier.

Mortal Shell 2 requires powerful graphics cards for high-resolution play and includes known visual bugs. The RTX 5090 stands out as the only solution for stable 4K performance. Other cards can handle 1080p or 1440p, but users must accept the presence of Lumen artifacts and stutters.
