Meta has unveiled the Meta VR Glasses, a tethered headset that aims to make virtual reality more comfortable for daily use. The device weighs just 100 grams, which is about half the weight of an Apple iPhone 18 Pro. The reduced weight aims to allow users to wear the device for longer sessions without experiencing neck strain. Buyers should note that the glasses require a separate battery pack to operate.

Tethered headset features 5K OLED displays and gesture controls

The headset uses 5K OLED micro-displays to render images. Meta has certified the device for Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, and IMAX Enhanced content. The glasses run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon Reality Elite processor to handle the visual load. Meta has not revealed the specific operating system or its compatibility with other platforms.
