McDonald's Japan is launching a new set of Pokemon Happy Meal toys on August 7 to celebrate the franchise's 30th anniversary. This release matters to collectors because the chain has implemented strict anti-scalping measures to keep the items in the hands of genuine fans. Buyers should be aware that these are physical play toys rather than the trading cards that caused shortages in previous promotions.

The collection features 12 distinct toy designs that represent 30 different Pokemon characters. This lineup includes all 27 starter Pokemon from the series' nine generations alongside popular figures like Pikachu, Eevee, and Snorlax. The toys function as interactive games rather than static figures, with designs that include disc shooters, spinners, ring toss games, and Poke Ball rollers. One design also includes a sticker case and a Snorlax name tag.

McDonald's Japan has set specific purchase limits to manage demand during the initial launch window. Customers can buy a maximum of six Pokemon Happy Meals per group and per transaction between August 7 and August 9. The chain also stated that the meals will be unavailable through third-party delivery platforms during these first three days to prevent immediate resale.

The toys will arrive in Japan in three waves starting from August 7. The first wave includes six toys available from August 7 to August 13. Another six toys will arrive on August 14, and the remaining designs will enter circulation from August 21 onwards until stocks run out.
