Lenovo is returning to the handheld market with a device designed specifically for cloud gaming, a shift that matters because it removes the need for expensive local hardware. The new Legion C700 targets players who want console-quality experiences without carrying heavy batteries or powerful chips. This approach changes the hardware equation by moving the processing load to remote servers.

Cloud gaming handheld arrives in August with Tencent START

The Legion C700 is a handheld console that partners directly with Tencent's START cloud gaming service. Renders reveal a white device with an asymmetric layout similar to the Xbox controller style. The design places the D-pad and left stick on the lower left, while the ABXY buttons and right stick sit on the upper right. This configuration mirrors the but strips away the local processing capabilities.

Lenovo has not yet disclosed the internal hardware specifications for the device. The company omitted details about the chipset, display resolution, and battery capacity in its initial teaser. Community members are currently speculating about whether the triggers are analog or digital, but Lenovo has not confirmed this feature. The device relies entirely on the Tencent START service for its primary function.

The Legion C700 is scheduled to arrive in China during August. Lenovo has promised to share more details about the device during that month. The company has not announced availability outside of China or provided any pricing information. A tagline from Lenovo reads, "Break down the barriers, jump into battle instantly."
