Halo Studios released the August 17 Update for Halo: Campaign Evolved, giving players direct control over visual effects that many find distracting. This patch addresses long-standing complaints about chromatic aberration and film grain by adding individual toggle switches for each effect. Gamers who prefer cleaner images can now disable these post-processing layers without affecting other settings.
August 17 update brings visual toggles and AMD performance fixes
The update introduces a new 'None' option under the Upscaling Technique menu, allowing users to turn off upscaling and anti-aliasing completely. Halo Studios stated that this setting helps players tailor the visual experience to their specific hardware capabilities. The studio noted that this change gives players the option to turn Chromatic Aberration and Film Grain on or off individually to better suit their visual preferences.
Performance improvements focus on AMD graphics cards, which now use Advanced Shader Delivery to reduce loading times and in-game stutters. The studio confirmed that this implementation should cut down on hitching during gameplay. The update also improves frame rates during cutscenes when Frame Generation is enabled, providing smoother transitions in cinematic sequences.
Stability fixes address issues with XeSS Frame Generation when players use an in-game frame rate limit. Game balance changes correct the Assault Rifle's rate of fire and spread to match intended performance. Jackals can now be staggered more easily when players target their hands or feet, and the update includes several fixes for Sgt. Johnson in the Boarding Action mission.
When we covered the last Halo: Campaign Evolved update, several of the same balance and stability themes came up. This patch continues that trend by refining core gameplay mechanics alongside technical optimizations. Players can now expect a more consistent experience across different hardware configurations.
