Fraudsters are distributing fake early access links for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI, posing a direct threat to consumer security. Buyers should avoid any site requesting cryptocurrency payments for premature game access, as these offers are entirely illegitimate.

Security researchers identify fraudulent sites mimicking official branding to steal cryptocurrency payments

Rockstar Games is developing the next installment in its Grand Theft Auto series, with the title scheduled for release on and /S. The official launch date is set for November 19, 2026. Pre-orders are not yet open to the public and will begin on June 25, 2026.

Security researchers at Malwarebytes have identified the fraudulent schemes circulating online. The scammers create websites that mimic official Rockstar branding to appear legitimate. These sites request payments in Bitcoin, USDT, or Ether to grant access to the game.

The fake links provide no actual game access or software. Users who attempt to download from these sources risk installing malware on their devices. The schemes exploit the high demand for the title by promising early availability that does not exist.

Consumers should wait for the official pre-order window opening on June 25, 2026, to purchase the game. Rockstar Games has not authorized any early access programs or third-party sales. The only safe way to obtain the game is through authorized retailers after the official launch on November 19, 2026.
