Sony platform captures majority of early sales ahead of November launch

Rockstar Games developed the title, which is scheduled to arrive on November 19. The pre-order data reveals a strong preference for Sony's platform, with the capturing 77 percent of the market. This split indicates that the majority of early adopters are choosing the PS5 over the |S.

The estimated pre-order volume stands at 4.38 million copies worldwide. Of these, 3.38 million copies are for the PS5, generating $331 million in revenue. The Xbox Series X|S accounts for the remaining 1 million copies, contributing $98 million to the total. These figures come from Sensor Tower, which tracks mobile and console pre-order activity.

A significant portion of these sales involves the $100 Ultimate Edition, which represents nearly 90 percent of all pre-orders. This pricing tier dominates the early sales landscape, suggesting that many buyers are opting for the premium package. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick described the demand as astonishing and unprecedented, reflecting the scale of this early success.

The data provided by Sensor Tower serves as a third-party estimate rather than confirmed figures from Rockstar or Take-Two. These numbers update weekly and may shift as the release date gets closer. The current estimates provide a clear snapshot of the game's initial market reception across major console platforms.
