Anshar Studios marked the fifth anniversary of Gamedec with a major update that reshapes how players experience the cyberpunk detective game. The changes matter because they lower the friction of conversation checks and expand character options, which reduces the chance of players getting stuck in dead-end storylines. Buyers who have struggled with the original game's rigid dialogue trees will find the new system more forgiving.
New heroines and rebalanced systems reduce dialogue friction
The update introduces two new playable heroines, Liora Serrano and Mara Vysotskaya, who joined the roster after winning a player vote. Liora Serrano serves as a scenographer of sensory worlds who left the industry after discovering her creations were used to manipulate players. She has learned to look beyond outward appearances and notice hidden intentions where others see only a carefully staged spectacle. Mara Vysotskaya is a memory profiler who abandoned her career after witnessing the truth being erased from a crime scene. As a gamedec, she trusts evidence, not people, even as she begins to doubt her own memories.
The developers rebalanced the progression system to streamline character growth and updated profession balance to give players more freedom when creating their gamedec. These adjustments allow for more varied builds and playstyles compared to the previous version. The studio also modified conversation mechanics so that characters become more patient and lenient during interactions. This change reduces the number of situations where choosing a certain line could accidentally make further communication unavailable.
Gamedec – Definitive Edition is available on consoles and PC for players who want to try these changes. Discounts on the main game and additional content are valid until October 8. This limited-time offer provides an entry point for new players to experience the updated mechanics without paying full price.
