Square Enix has released Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Update 1.090 for PlayStation 5 and PC, timed to coincide with the game's upcoming release on Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. The update introduces significant quality-of-life improvements through a new Streamlined Progression system and enhances the PC version with AMD FSR upscaling support.
Patch introduces Streamlined Progression and level 65 start options for PS5 and PC players
The patch adds two distinct features designed to modify gameplay pacing. Streamlined Progression allows players to toggle options like unlimited HP, MP, and maximum item counts directly from the in-game menu. These settings can be adjusted at any time during play without restarting.
New Game – Head Start lets players begin a fresh campaign with their characters already at level 65. This starting level approaches the game's maximum cap of 70 and includes access to several enhanced materia slots for immediate combat customization.
The PC version now supports AMD FSR upscaling, which Square Enix states enables more stable image processing. The update also applies minor bug fixes across both platforms, though the developer has not detailed specific issues addressed in this release.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth remains available on PlayStation 5 and PC. Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 versions are scheduled for release shortly after the current patch.
