Battlestate Games is updating Escape From Tarkov with new combat stances to improve player immersion and tactical depth. The studio plans to introduce Close Quarters Battle (CQB) positions, specifically High Ready and Low Ready, to give players more control over their character's posture. These changes aim to make the shooting experience feel more realistic and allow for better stamina management during intense firefights. Players who prioritize tactical positioning and realistic weapon handling will see immediate benefits from these adjustments.

New CQB positions and AK animations arrive with July season update

The developer is also overhauling the animation systems for the AK platform to enhance visual fidelity and modding flexibility. Mikhail Ivanov confirmed that the animations for the AK series are complete and ready for implementation. Players will be able to combine handguards and gas tube covers in various ways, including operating the weapon without a gas tube cover. The trigger groups have also received a visual upgrade to match the improved mechanical detail.

Animation work is expanding beyond the AK platform to other weapon systems in the game. The Mosin rifle is scheduled for a full animation overhaul next, following the completion of the AK updates. The studio is also developing new magazine loading animations, which Ivanov stated should roll out later this year. The team acknowledges the complexity of fitting animations for various magazine shapes but remains confident in delivering a polished result.

Escape From Tarkov Season 1 is set to arrive in July, bringing significant changes to the game's core loop. The update includes task reworks, hideout rebalancing, and improvements to the artificial intelligence of enemy bots. Ivanov noted that the new features will make bots feel more human and believable, adding to the overall immersion. These changes are designed to refresh the gameplay experience and address long-standing balance issues.

Looking further ahead, Battlestate Games has outlined plans for Q3 2026 that include ranked leagues and a rework of the Lighthouse map. The studio is also migrating the game engine to Unity 6 and integrating 4.0 for improved graphics performance. These technical updates aim to stabilize the game and provide a better long-term foundation for future content. We looked at the last escape from tarkov update earlier while tracking balance and stability themes.

The confirmed roadmap highlights a clear focus on immersion, stability, and competitive structure for Escape From Tarkov. Players can expect immediate improvements in weapon animations and stance mechanics with the upcoming Season 1 launch. Long-term technical upgrades like the Unity 6 migration will support sustained development and performance enhancements.
