EA is reshaping how players socialize in EA FC 27 by introducing The Grounds, a massive open-world hub that expands the existing Clubs mode. This addition matters because it shifts the focus from pure match simulation to a persistent digital city where you can hang out, compete in side activities, and interact with virtual mentors. Players who enjoy community-driven experiences will find a new central location for their in-game social life.
Massive social hub extends Clubs with street football and interactive NPCs
The Grounds functions as a detailed urban environment divided into three distinct districts, supporting up to 99 players simultaneously. It serves as a direct extension to the Clubs feature, allowing friends to gather outside of standard competitive matches. The mode integrates seamlessly with the existing EA FC 27 ecosystem while offering a completely new way to engage with the game's social systems.
Inside the city, players can access a variety of mini-games that break away from traditional 11v11 soccer. Options include 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 street football matches, as well as 4v4 Rush games featuring an AI goalkeeper. The Grounds also introduces a dodgeball-like mode and a unique soccer basketball variant where players score by kicking the ball through hoops. These activities provide quick, casual gameplay loops for when you want a break from full matches.
Social interaction is enhanced by the presence of four NPC mentors: Kylian Mbappe, Paulo Dybala, Chloe Kelly, and Alex Hunter. Players can engage in dialogue with these characters, making choices that likely influence their in-game experience. The Grounds is currently available for testing in the EA FC 27 Closed Beta, which begins on August 5. This early access allows players to experience the new social hub before the full game release.
The Grounds represents the most significant content addition to EA FC 27, acting as a major expansion to the Clubs experience. It combines persistent social spaces with varied mini-games and interactive NPCs to create a dedicated hangout zone. The Closed Beta starting August 5 provides the first opportunity to test these features in a live environment.
