Techland released a new update for Dying Light 2 on August 3, and players who want to progress faster in the early game should pay attention. The studio adjusted experience point rewards to help users unlock core combat skills like heavy attacks and slides more quickly. This change directly impacts how new players experience the game's pacing and skill progression systems.
Techland releases patch 1.29 with XP gains and bug fixes
The patch arrives as version 1.29 for PC players and version 1.96 or 1.096 for console users across all platforms. We call this release The Breach Update, which builds on the community map features introduced in the previous patch. The update is available now globally for anyone who owns the game.
Techland boosted experience point gains from main missions, with a smaller increase applied to side missions. The studio changed the visual appearance of UV flashlights and light sources from pink-purple to pale blue for better aesthetic consistency. These adjustments aim to streamline the early-game loop without altering the core survival mechanics.
Players running the Viral Rush mode will notice that Virals are now immune to sunlight and spawn more frequently during combat actions. All firearms in this mode now feature infinite ammo, which changes the tactical approach to encounters. The update also includes fixes for audio issues, geometry clipping, crashes, and localization errors.
When we covered the last Dying Light 2 update, several of the same balance and stability themes came up. This release continues that trend by refining progression speed and fixing persistent technical bugs. The changes are live now for PC and console players worldwide.
