Electronic Arts is unlikely to develop Dead Space 4, according to former series producer Chuck Beaver. He said the company is focused on finding the next Fortnite rather than funding single-player games without live-service elements.

Former producer explains EA's live-service focus

Beaver explained that horror games have a natural sales ceiling. The 2023 Dead Space remake reportedly did not meet EA's sales expectations. EA rejected pitches for a new Dead Space from both former Visceral Games developers and EA Motive.

The 2023 Dead Space remake failed to meet EA's sales expectations.

Beaver described single-player package games without live-service offerings as a dinosaur fossil of a business model. EA is looking for a perennial money-maker like Fortnite, not a traditional packaged game.

EA has not officially commented on the future of the Dead Space franchise. The status of any potential sequel remains unclear.
