Behaviour Interactive released the Chorus of Sin update for Dead by Daylight on August 25, bringing fresh characters and significant balance shifts to the asymmetrical horror game. This patch directly impacts competitive play by tightening the window for survivors to recover after being rescued from hooks. The changes aim to reduce the advantage of early-game escapes while rewarding consistent performance throughout the match.

Behaviour Interactive tightens unhook protections and rebalances perks
The update introduces a new Killer named The Judgment, who wields the Divine Light power and utilizes an Exile mechanic to control the map. Players can also unlock the new Survivor, Aurora, who comes with three distinct perks: Fruits of your Labor, Salvation’s Cry, and Boon: Steadfast. These additions expand the roster options for both sides of the gameplay loop.
A major mechanical change reduces the unhook protection duration from 15 seconds to 10 seconds. Survivors now gain a 10-second Elusive status that provides Endurance and 10% Haste immediately after being unhooked. The update also rebalances a wide range of existing perks for both Killers and Survivors, including Sprint Burst, Adrenaline, and Hex: Thrill of the Hunt.
The patch updates the Matchmaking Rating (MMR) calculation to account for more actions beyond just kills and escapes. Developers added a new Gameplay Showcase Section to lobbies to highlight these changes. MP1st noted that the update includes a ton of gameplay changes alongside the new characters. We looked at the last Dead by Daylight update earlier while tracking similar balance and stability themes.
Dead by Daylight Chorus of Sin Update Version 3.78/10.100.001 is now live for all platforms. The update is available as a free patch for existing owners of the game.
