WWE wrestler Cody Rhodes has confirmed that sent him a cease and desist letter regarding his custom wrestling boots. The footwear featured a design inspired by the Triforce symbol from the Legend of Zelda franchise. Rhodes shared the details of the interaction on social media, noting that the legal notice was surprisingly polite.

Rhodes shares details about the polite legal notice from Nintendo regarding his custom footwear.

The boots displayed the three golden triangles that make up the Triforce. Rhodes explained that the symbol represents wisdom, courage, and power, corresponding to the characters Zelda, Link, and Ganon. He stated that he chose the design to reflect the idea of applying one's own wisdom and learning. He also joked that he is not the first person to use the Triforce imagery.

Nintendo is widely known for its aggressive protection of intellectual property rights. The company has a history of suing pirates and shutting down fan projects that use its characters or logos without permission. This legal action against Rhodes aligns with that established pattern of enforcing its brand assets.

Rhodes described the cease and desist letter as very kind and noted that Nintendo was not aggressively pursuing him. He indicated that the company was friendly in its approach to the matter. This suggests a less hostile outcome than typical IP enforcement cases involving the gaming giant.

Rhodes has not disclosed the specific terms of the agreement reached with Nintendo. It remains unclear whether he was required to remove the boots from public view or modify the design. The wrestler did not provide further details on the resolution of the dispute.
