Bandai Namco released a new patch for Code Vein 2, and players who use two-handed swords as one-handed weapons will notice the difference immediately. The update arrives just days after the previous version, and it targets specific combat timing issues that frustrated melee-focused builds. We expect this fix to smooth out the attack rotation for players who rely on that specific weapon trait.
Patch resolves combat timing issues and DLC map bugs
The studio rolled out version 2.003 on September 24, and the release notes highlight several critical bug fixes. Bandai Namco stated that the patch addresses a delay in attack cancel timing when the trait to equip a two-handed sword as a one-handed sword is active. This change directly impacts the responsiveness of your primary combat loop.
The patch notes detail the specific changes in this update. Bandai Namco wrote: "Fixed a bug where the attack cancel timing would be delayed when the trait 'Can equip a two-handed sword as a one-handed sword' was active." The team also resolved an issue where destination icons failed to appear on the map for the quest 'Heading to the Rift in Time and Space' in the Mask of Idris DLC. Additionally, the Steam version now prevents the G key from locking the Palette Menu during keyboard and mouse operations.
We noticed that this update follows the same stability-focused pattern as the last Code Vein 2 update. The previous patch addressed quest progression blockers, and this release continues that trend by fixing balance and input issues. Players on PC and consoles can install this version now to restore the intended combat feel.
