Konami revealed a new entry in the Castlevania series that shifts the franchise into a modern 2.5D visual style. This preview offers a concrete look at how the studio is adapting its classic side-scrolling formula for contemporary hardware. Players interested in the series will see how this shift affects the core combat loop and narrative presentation.

The game stars Rose Belmont, the daughter of the original protagonist Trevor Belmont, who serves as the primary playable character. Set in Paris during 1499, the story begins when demons overrun the city, prompting Trevor to send Rose into battle. She inherits the iconic Vampire Killer whip to fight through the demonic horde alongside her father.

Gameplay relies on a polygonal 2.5D engine that renders foreground elements with flat, black comic-style outlines. Rose utilizes the Vampire Killer whip for standard attacks and deploys Arcanas, which are special magic abilities that consume mana. Players can upgrade these Arcanas by completing specific in-game tasks labeled as Works of Mercy.

The soundtrack for this title will not feature long-time series composer Michiru Yamane, a fact confirmed earlier this year. A reviewer previewing the game noted that while the title does not radically raise the stakes, it remains a solid entry for fans. Konami previewed Castlevania Belmont’s Curse at Gamescom with approximately one hour of hands-on footage. The game is scheduled for release in October 2026. This preview establishes the visual direction and core mechanics for the upcoming Metroidvania title.
