Gearbox released Borderlands 4 Update 1.8 on June 25 to introduce major new endgame content and cross-platform functionality. This update matters because it adds a free raid and restores wave survival gameplay without requiring additional purchases. Players can now continue their progress across different devices using the new save system.

Free raid and cross-platform saves arrive with patch 1.8

The patch version 1.8 appears as console patch 1.008.001 across all supported platforms. The primary addition is the Takedown at Hadron Abyss, a free endgame raid for all players. This raid features the Child of Terramorphous boss and introduces new loot drops. Gearbox also released the paid Bounty Pack 3: A Zane to Kill For DLC on the same day.

New items include one Pearlescent weapon, nine Legendary gear pieces, one Firmware, and five Class Mods. These drops are unique to the Takedown at Hadron Abyss raid. The update also brings back the Circle of Slaughter mode as a free feature. Players can engage in wave-based survival challenges again.

Cross-Platform Saves are now live through the SHiFT service. This system lets players upload saves from one platform and play on another. Balance changes reduce Subjugator the Invincible’s health by approximately 7 percent. Shield Striker’s health and Shield health decreased by 20 percent each. The King’s Gambit Pistol projectile now flies 30 percent slower.

When we covered the last borderlands 4 update, several of the same balance and stability themes came up. This patch continues that trend with specific numerical adjustments to enemy stats and weapon behavior.

The update delivers free endgame content, a paid narrative expansion, and cross-platform save support. Players can access the new raid and mode immediately. The cross-platform feature ensures progress follows the user across devices.
