Black Ops 7 Classic Mode Launches June 4 With Restricted Movement
GAME PERFORMANCE

Black Ops 7 is expanding its content with the launch of Black Ops Classic, a mode designed to replicate the movement mechanics and feel of earlier entries in the franchise. Treyarch has released details on how this classic experience will function within the broader game ecosystem.

Treyarch limits modern mechanics to recreate Black Ops 2 feel

Black Ops Classic emphasizes classic movement mechanics, including Wall Jump and Slide, while restricting Omnimovement to align with the style of Black Ops 2. It strips away modern movement abilities to create a more traditional first-person shooter experience.

Black Ops Classic restricts several key mechanics found in the main game, including Omnimovement, Wall Jumping, and Sliding. These features are disabled to ensure the movement feels closer to Black Ops 2, which serves as the primary design target for this mode.

According to Matt Scronce, Design Director at Treyarch, the team aimed to get as close to a classic movement set as possible. These limitations are intended to recreate the movement feel of Black Ops 2, as stated by Design Director Matt Scronce.

The studio has expressed enthusiasm about the development process, noting they have been having fun testing these limitations internally. The mode launches on Thursday, June 4 as part of Black Ops 7 Season 4, offering a curated experience based on legacy mechanics.
