Battlefield 6 players get a major shift in combat dynamics this week as Season 4 launches on July 21. The update moves the focus from land-based skirmishes to large-scale naval warfare, fundamentally changing how players engage in massive battles. This change matters because it introduces a new layer of strategic depth for those who prefer controlling the coastline and surf.

Season 4 update brings naval combat mechanics to Tsuru Reef

Electronic Arts brings the action to Tsuru Reef, which the developer describes as the biggest battlefield in the game's history. The map features sprawling islands and dynamic waves that serve as the stage for the new naval mechanics. Players can expect collisions between boats, jets, helicopters, and ground vehicles in these open waters.

The season introduces two new watercraft to the arsenal: the RCB-90 Patrol Boat and the 7.7m NSW RHIB. The Patrol Boat allows players to command the coastline, while the RHIB lets them race through the surf for faster movement. These vehicles are central to the new naval combat style that defines this update.

Beyond the water, the update adds four new weapons to the game's roster. A brand-new Ranked Battle Royale season also kicks off, offering fresh rewards for competitive players. The classic Wake Island map returns in mid-season content to round out the experience.

We looked at the last Battlefield 6 update while tracking balance and stability themes, and this naval shift continues that evolution. Season 4 is now live globally, giving players immediate access to the new maps, vehicles, and ranked modes.
