Arc Raiders developer Embark Studios is testing a dedicated PvE mode from October 13 to 20 to address the community split between cooperative and competitive players.

Players of Arc Raiders have long argued over whether the game should focus on cooperative survival or competitive player-versus-player combat. Embark Studios is now testing a dedicated PvE mode to address this split in the community. This shift gives players who prefer cooperative play a clear path to experience the game without the pressure of PvP encounters.

Embark Studios runs separate PvE test October 13 to 20

The developer is running a separate PvE test for Arc Raiders from October 13 to 20. Executive Producer Aleksander Grondal acknowledged that the community has divided into two distinct camps regarding gameplay preferences. The studio aims to respect how players want to engage with the title, even if those preferences differ from the original design vision.

This testing phase follows the 2.0 Frozen Trail update, which introduced a new map, additional equipment, new enemies, and a battle pass. The studio previously adjusted its roadmap to release two major updates per year after addressing developer burnout. That earlier update focused on balance and stability improvements across the game.

Grondal stated that the community division might eventually be reflected directly in the game structure over time. He emphasized the importance of respecting player desires for different modes, noting that this approach may not align with the initial vision. We covered the last Arc Raiders update and saw similar themes of balance and stability emerge in player feedback.
