Admitting Black Ops 7 wasn't what a lot of people were looking for and wanted something new other than another of the same sub-series. The big takeaway here is Activision is pivoting strategy with this franchise and is pivoting in their roadmap to reflect this feedback. In short, they're focusing on reverting back to the whole gritty military shooter for the next big game. This is important for buyers as it hints at a toning adjustment for their next Modern Warfare game.

Activision adjusts Modern Warfare 4 strategy to address Black Ops 7 feedback

The conversation is around Call of Duty and some of their new games. More specifically Modern Warfare 4. A representative (Tyler Bahl) for Activision spoke out and says they're adjusting with the clear feedback players are giving.

The idea here is to keep it cinematic, keep it real, and to get back the edge that Call of Duty was known for in the past. Basically what they're doing is reaching out to those core players that were alienated by what they did last time.

New sub-franchise coming for call of duty in 2027 in order to further branch out for the market. This new Call of Duty branch will exist alongside the existing Modern Warfare and Black Ops for even more variety in the yearly releases. So right now what they're doing is pivoting back to a gritty military shooter style aesthetic for Modern Warfare 4. This big change in structure is a way to combat franchise fatigue and give players variety with their options depending on preference.

Admitting Black Ops 7 didn't hit the mark shows the dangers of a tonal change for a long standing series. We heard people talking about how they wanted a change of pace and not another one in the same sub-series. They're now focusing on authenticity and how cinematic it's going to be for their next big game. This is a direct response to the backlash in regards to the identity of the last game.

Activision confirmed that they're bringing back the gritty military shooter for Modern Warfare 4. They've also confirmed their upcoming sub-franchise launch in 2027. These are some moves in response to the feedback around Black Ops 7. Authenticity and variety is the focus now to earn the trust of the audience.
