A free update now adds local versus combat to RUSHING BEAT X: Return of Brawl Brothers, giving players a direct way to test their skills against friends. This Versus Mode expands the game beyond its single-player story, allowing two players to compete on the same screen. Free patch adds six stages and local player-versus-player combat
The update comes from developer City Connection and publisher Clear River Games for the modern remake of the classic Jaleco series. Players take on the role of heroes fighting the Zeekus virus in the neon-soaked streets of Neo Cisco. The new mode lets users choose from all seven playable characters available in the Story Mode to face off in local player-versus-player matches.
Clear River Games introduced six distinct stages for the Versus Mode, each designed to influence gameplay differently. The Boss Rush Ring removes environmental damage for a pure fight, while Back Alley offers tight combat with vehicles and burn barrels. Other locations include Subway Tunnel with its electrical hazards and approaching trains, High Security Jail with dangerous turrets, and the virus-drenched Sewers with erupting metal floors.
The update also includes a hazardous version of the Boss Rush Ring featuring electrified ropes that add risk to the arena. Players who choose the same character can still compete, as the second player will use a color variation of the selected fighter. This flexibility ensures that character preference does not limit replayability or competitive balance in the new mode.
