The Crown appears as part of a delivery mission to Johnny at Costa del Sol, but it requires progress through the main story before becoming available. Players must reach Chapter 9 to unlock the quest step inside the Corel Desert region.
Locating the Tonberry King involves traveling far southeast from the Gold Saucer or heading east from the Corel Desert Waypoint. The boss spawns in an open arena where players can defeat it for a Marred Crown, which Steal Materia can convert into the Pristine Crown variant.
Both crown variants grant identical rewards upon delivery to Johnny, but the Pristine Crown provides superior visual display quality during gameplay. This distinction matters only for collectors who want the cleanest appearance while completing side content.
