HMD has launched the Vibe 2 5G smartphone in India. The device replaces the previous Vibe 5G model and targets budget-conscious consumers with a focus on battery life and local software features.
Budget smartphone targets Indian consumers with local language support
The phone features a 6.745-inch LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It runs at an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels. Power comes from a 6nm Unisoc T8200 5G processor paired with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM.
Storage options include 64GB and 128GB variants, both expandable via microSD card up to 1TB. The device ships with Android 16 and Indus AI software that supports 22 Indian languages. A large 6,000mAh battery provides power and supports 18W charging speeds.
The Vibe 2 5G includes a 50MP primary rear camera, an additional secondary sensor, and an 8MP front-facing camera for video calls. It weighs 210g and carries an IP64 dust and water resistance rating. The phone retains a 3.5mm headphone jack.
HMD promises two years of quarterly security updates for the device. Major OS upgrades are not explicitly mentioned in the current plans. The smartphone is available on Flipkart starting May 26th with pricing set at Rs. 10,999 INR (about $0.11) and Rs. 11,999 INR (about $0.12).
