Jean Tyulegenov has departed Battlestate Games after nine years as the lead game designer for Escape from Tarkov. His departure marks the end of a long tenure that spanned the game's development from its early access phase through its 1.0 release milestone last year.
Tyulegenov expressed gratitude for the challenges and the project he helped build alongside his colleagues. He recalled specific game elements such as the first quests, the boss Reshala, the Hideout, and the complex Flea Market formulas. He described the journey as difficult but worth it because he witnessed millions of players experience the game he designed.
Former Head of PR Dmitry Ogorodnikov and German Terekhov also left Battlestate Games to join Nomion Games. Ogorodnikov praised Tyulegenov's contributions, stating that the game gained much from his work and is losing a lot without him. He added that the best is yet to come for the studio and its community.
Nomion Games is reportedly working on a new title called Rush is Real. A teaser has surfaced suggesting that Tyulegenov might be heading to Nomion Games next. This information comes from Insider Gaming, which noted that Ogorodnikov's comment was seen as a nod to a potential future placement for Tyulegenov.
Insider Gaming reports that while the teaser suggests Tyulegenov's next destination, the source does not explicitly confirm his new employer. The article highlights the significance of this leadership change for a game that reached a major commercial milestone recently.
