Techland has announced a significant personnel change within the Dying Light franchise. Franchise Director Tymon Smektala is departing the studio after 13 years of service. Insider Gaming reports that this departure marks the end of an era for the zombie survival series.
Smektala served as the director for nearly four years and joined the company in May 2013 as a game designer. His last major contribution to the franchise was Dying Light: The Beast, which was internally referred to as Dying Light 3. He will leave with no further involvement in future development cycles.
In a statement shared by the studio, Smektala expressed pride in what the team built together over the years. He thanked all the talented people of Techland across both development and publishing for their passion and energy. He specifically highlighted the amazing community as his North Star throughout the franchise journey.
