The HMD Pulse Pro is going from Unisoc T606 to the MediaTek Helio G99. This upgrade will let the phone run 8GB and 256GB, which is a huge upgrade from what was available before. There will be a new display too.
It will be a 6.56-inch HD+ 120Hz IPS panel. That will make scrolling and watching content much more pleasant.
The HMD Crest Max is going from Unisoc T760 to the MediaTek Dimensity 7025. This upgrade will try to bring the Crest Max to what people would expect from a phone in its price range. Lastly, HMD has a modular phone, the Fusion, which is getting an upgrade from the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 to the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2. The 7s Gen 2 seems to offer around 25% faster CPU power per leaks.
This hardware upgrade seems to be targeting the lack of speed, which is a big point of frustration with these devices. User replaceable batteries are a big part of HMD's brand identity, so that won't change. The HMD Pulse Pro's Helio G99 is supposed to be 45% faster than the previous Unisoc T606, and this will definitely change how apps load up on the phone.
These upgrades are going for the European market. That will bring faster phones to Europe for people who want them. They won't be giving up on repairability.
This is HMD Global's attempt to compete in the budget phone space. With faster CPUs, more memory, and higher refresh rate displays. The value proposition will definitely be stronger for those on a tight budget. When HMD makes an announcement to confirm all these leaks we will get details on the exact release date and price.
