Zotac makes the most weird version of GTX 1060 3GB, defying the traditional PC building logic. Vertical layout matters because it's a testament to the fact that even legacy GPU architecture can be adapted for specific physical form factors. This gives those looking to upgrade specific AIO systems the assurance of a confirmed upgrade hardware for which conventional cards are not feasible.
Custom Zotac GTX 1060 3GB features vertical PCB and relocated connectors for all-in-one PC upgrade
The custom graphics card was found in a Saiosone 32-inch all-in-one PC by RandomGaminginHD on YouTube. This custom version of Zotac's GTX 1060 3GB card was custom built for Saiosone's AIO PC, which has limited internal dimensions. This custom card adopts a vertical PCB (taller than wide) instead of the conventional horizontal PCB. This change in orientation necessitates new considerations for the card's motherboard and display connections.
Specifications
- Form Factor: Vertical PCB (taller than wide)
- Target Device: Saiosone 32-inch all-in-one PC
- Power Connector: 6-pin supplementary power connector moved to bottom
- Display Outputs: Located on the right side of the card
- Cooling: Twin-fan cooler keeping GPU below 55C
Hardware-wise, this custom version is defined by its physical adaptations. For instance, the 6-pin supplementary power connector is now located at the bottom to accommodate the vertical orientation. Further, the display ports are moved to the right-hand side of the PCB instead of the conventional left side.
Additionally, the temperature of the GPU is kept low at 55C or less (when under load) using the twin-fan cooler. This is a steady temperature for this form factor.
According to RandomGaminginHD's tests, this card offers the same performance as conventional GTX 1060 3GB cards, when it comes to gaming benchmarks. In Battlefield 6, it managed to push out an average of 52 FPS (lowest settings and FSR upscale). The Witcher 3 remastered provided 76 FPS (low preset and FSR upscale). In Counter-Strike 2, it was 237 FPS (medium preset – no upscale).
The performance in Cyberpunk 2077 stood at 54.4 FPS average (low preset, FSR upscale). In Arc Raiders, it's 75 FPS average (lowest settings, 80% resolution scale). In GTA 5 Enhanced Edition, it's a steady 78.8 FPS average (high preset). This proves that the vertical orientation doesn't take away from the core computational power of GTX 1060 3GB chip.
The card is not compatible with conventional desktop cases since the PCIe slot and display ports are reversed. According to the source, it's as if someone placed the PCIe slot at the spot where we usually find the rear display ports. For those who own conventional desktop PCs, this card is not compatible without significant changes to their motherboard/case. It's a testament to Zotac's approach to providing customized hardware for the niche all-in-one market.
