No one at EA is working on Mass Effect or Dragon Age, former producer claims

Former BioWare producer Mark Darrah claims EA has no active teams for Mass Effect or Dragon Age, suggesting the franchises may be abandoned or sold.

Ex-BioWare Producer Mark Darrah indicates Electronic Arts could discontinue or sell rights to the Mass Effect and Dragon Age franchises. Speculation comes on the heels of BioWare closing their Edmonton studio recently. If you're using these big gaming IPs for your gaming library, beware – there are no current active dev teams on new games for either series.

Former BioWare producer Mark Darrah claims EA has no active teams for the franchises

Darrah, former development lead on Dragon Age, says that EA could either sell the rights to their famous franchises or just give up on using them altogether. No one at EA is doing any work on Mass Effect or Dragon Age games, and probably never will again. That's not something Electronic Arts said corporately, but what a former insider thinks.

Why this uncertainty? This is a direct result of the current changes within BioWare – specifically the closing of their Edmonton office. Darrah's statement indicates a possible change in how Electronic Arts handles their legacy of intellectual properties. And there is no corporate response from Electronic Arts (yes or no) about the future of these franchises.

We've been following Mass Effect pretty closely, so you can find discussion on Mass Effect Next Game Needs BioWare. But where are we? Unclear. Just take this as a former producer's opinion.
