UK gym chain gears up for Grand Theft Auto 6 release with unique thumb exercise In preparation for the November 19 release of Grand Theft Auto 6 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, a UK gym chain has embarked on a peculiar ritual. PureGym teamed up with personal trainer David Hope to tackle the physical challenges of long gaming sessions. During long gaming sessions, your hands and thumbs need to show a lot of dexterity. If you're not prepped, you can start to feel stiff.

The focus of this partnership is a particular thumb exercise to ensure your hands are in tip-top shape for intense controller use. The exercise involves touching your thumb to your fingertips, curling your fingers and doing finger push-ups. These exercises are meant to work the muscles doing the main job, while the rest of you stays put.
According to David Hope, physical preparedness before digital work is critical. "We warm up before we go for a run or before we do a gym session, so why not before a long gaming session?" said Hope. "Your thumbs and your hands are doing all the work and the rest of you is barely moving." Hope suggests people do the thumb exercise before and after gaming to avoid injury. As gamers prepare for this big game's release, this fitness program is a good (and cheap) way to ensure you stay physically comfortable while playing for a long time. Though Rockstar Games hasn't officially endorsed this routine, this partnership shows that more people see gaming as a physically intense experience.
