Expresion Games launched Hell Let Loose: Vietnam patch update 1.015 (version 1.7) on October 21st. It's important because it's adding console-specific graphics and vehicle mechanic re-balancing that will impact the day-to-day experience. So it's interesting to see the dev team working on player performance expectations with PlayStation platforms and re-balancing vehicle fleet mechanics for both US and NVA.

Patch 1.7 brings console graphics upgrades and vehicle rebalancing to the tactical shooter

There's a new M1A1 Thompson submachine gun added for US Forces in the game. According to Expresion Games, they're moving this fan favorite weapon from the original game to give US weapon selection a boost. There's now also a 30-round magazine variant option for the M16A1 rifle. So more variety for loadout options during infantry engagements for players.

  • Game Version: 1.7
  • Patch Build: 1.015
  • New Weapon: M1A1 Thompson SMG
  • Weapon Mod: M16A1 30-round magazine
  • Console Feature: PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution)

A big leap for console players with this update is the graphics improvements that come through. PS5 Pro support for PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) has been added. Also Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) is now supported for compatible displays for both PS5 and PS5 Pro platforms. There's now support that PC players with compatible AMD GPUs can turn on for performance enhancements.

A number of vehicle flow improvements have been made through focused adjustments. If a player manually exits the driver's seat now, then the engine on the boat automatically shuts off. This makes it so that the boat can be a spawn point without another player having to first go into the vehicle.

US and NVA boat speed and fuel costs have been balanced. Tank crews are now able to unload chambered shells when changing ammo type.

Adjustments were made to server settings and anti-abuse rules. The AFK kick timer for Official Servers has been lowered from 30 minutes down to 10 minutes. No more redeployment punishment timers.

Commander orders won't lead to team-kill punishments anymore. This is the last patch before the big Version 2.0 update.

The last Hell Let Loose: Vietnam update was touched upon and there were similar balance and stability themes that were discussed. We see that continue in this update with improvements on existing systems instead of adding in new content. So players can look forward to a better experience with vehicles and graphics on consoles as we move forward toward the next major version of the game.
