For those looking for some good old fashioned survival horror, there's a new game out on Steam. Athanasia, the latest from Momentum Games, hit Steam's early access list this week. It has a certain feel to it that would be familiar to those who played some of the classic horror games on PC.
Momentum Games releases Dino Crisis-inspired survival horror
Athanasia has you play as researcher Carmen Flores. You'll be navigating a research complex in South America, battling prehistoric creatures. The game is obviously inspired by both Dino Crisis and System Shock. It's about exploring and solving puzzles in the environment, while also fighting the various creatures you come across.
The early access release is mostly about exploring and surviving. You need to find the audio recordings to understand what's happening in the facility. You'll mainly be fighting the predatory creatures that are hanging out in the complex. There's no full campaign or final boss in the game just yet.
There's no announced release date for the full game. This version is more of a starting point. Momentum Games plans to update it moving forward.
If you're into a certain kind of horror, this one is out now for purchase. Of course, since it's in early access, features could be added or changed.
