Unofficial PC port brings 4K and 120 FPS to classic Nintendo title
Super Paper Mario is now available as a standalone PC app. It's not official but it will let players play this classic game on whatever PC they want. It's easy to get the game installed using a launcher that just reads from your own disc image files. That's cool, it's totally a copyright friendly solution since you'll have to supply your own copy for it to work.
This unofficial port gives Super Paper Mario a big visual and performance boost for the modern era. The game now supports up to 4K and 120 FPS with frame interpolation. The default is a borderless 1080p window that should look great and scale to your monitor of choice.
The port also brings a lot of great features for input. It supports mouse/keyboard and Xbox/PS/Nintendo gamepads. You can remap any control to your liking. You'll also find in game HD textures and better music tracks.
It's fully compatible with widescreen and ultrawide monitors. There won't be any distortion to the graphics. The app will fill your screen while preserving the aspect ratio. That way you can experience the art style as intended on your current setup.
This unofficial port is a reminder of the demand there is for Nintendo classics on PC. It's a nice experience for retro gamers out there. It's great that we're getting these kinds of ports, to ensure that classic titles like this are still available to new generations.
