Battlefield 6 players are now in full control of their earn rates thanks to DICE removing a secret XP cap which held back progress in multiplayer and BF Portal. The correction is important as the sneaky cap was stopping players from earning for their efforts, essentially penalising people for engaging with the game. Developers promptly reverted the backend changes as soon as the community found the issue to fix the earn rates back to what they should be for all experiences.
DICE removes a secret XP cap which held back progress in multiplayer and BF Portal
The fix for the progression issue in BF6 has been released by DICE in patch 1.000.034 alongside the Season 5 content update. The studio describes the restriction as an unfortunate misconfiguration that had made its way into live without notification. It was noted that the cap was affecting both weapon unlocks as well as general progression on accounts, throwing off the normal gameplay flow.
The hidden restriction set a cap on weapon/overall XP at 300,000 which meant any further progression beyond this point didn't count for players. The limitation was found through community sleuthing to be in effect in base multiplayer and the BF Portal portion of the game. DICE has confirmed the full rollback of backend configuration changes that set the cap in place.
The team is looking at telemetry for experience point earn rates in all game modes to ensure they're back to what they should be across the board. The tech fix clears the immediate progression block and gets the earn rates back to the standard for players. It also makes sure that going forward progression is tracking as intended based on goals laid out for season 5.
DICE fixes silent XP cap problem with 1.000.034 patch by reverting backend config changes that led to the inadvertent limitation. It restores full XP earn rates for everyone in base multiplayer and BF portal. They're keeping an eye on telemetry to make sure the progression systems are working as they should be.
