Techland has announced a major leadership change within its Dying Light franchise. Franchise Director Tymon Smektała is stepping down from the studio after years of leading the series. Smektała served as producer on both the original Dying Light and Dying Light 2.

Techland Franchise Director Tymon Smektała steps down after 13 years leading the Dying Light series.

In a social media post, Smektała expressed pride in what the team has built over the last few years. He thanked the community for their love, engagement, and vocal support which shaped the franchise. The director stated that the franchise is now in great hands and he is excited to see it grow.

Smektała confirmed he will continue to support the Dying Light series as a player even after leaving his current role. He expressed excitement about experiencing the next chapter of the game as a fan rather than a developer. Techland has also hired a Lead Online Game Designer for a new Dying Light experience.

The studio is currently recruiting for key positions to continue development on future projects in the series. This personnel shift marks a significant transition for the team behind one of the most popular survival horror franchises.
