An 18-month development project has been abruptly canceled. A veteran game designer and story writer doesn't have a place to work anymore. Kotaro Uchikoshi, the creator of Zero Escape series and AI: The Somnium Files series, has lost his job overnight with the cancellation of his previous project. The unexpected change in employment status has led to the early launch of his new project. If you're a fan of story-rich games, get ready. A new indie game studio is now looking for investment and business opportunities.

Zero Escape creator seeks investors for new Tokyo-based game studio

Game designer Kotaro Uchikoshi has founded a new company called CRASH KEYS to keep working on his game design and story writing career. The company is an independent game studio focused on creating new video game content. Uchikoshi was originally going to announce the studio in 2027 with a new game announcement. However, the abrupt cancelation of his previous project has prompted him to announce the studio much sooner than expected.

CRASH KEYS is located in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. The company was officially founded in March 2025. Uchikoshi is the CEO of the new studio. Writer Akira Mine and Scriptwriter Muri Sasaki are also founding members of the studio. The company's focus is on video game design, direction, and story writing.

In a Twitter message, Uchikoshi addressed the public about the new studio. He said that the team has been working with their heart and soul for about a year and a half on their canceled project. Now, the new studio is accepting work requests, investment offers, or invites to Law of Attraction seminars. You can contact the studio through the contact form on the official website.

CRASH KEYS is a fresh start for Uchikoshi after his previous work came to an abrupt end. Now, the studio is seeking funding from partners to launch new original projects. The creative team can still make games even though they don't have the previous platform to work on anymore.
