someone made an unofficial pc port of The Last Guardian without using normal console emulation, and this is important because it shows that the game can work on the modern pc without the need for a bloated console emulator. now people who are curious how this game would work on PC can actually look at the results and benchmarks and not have to just speculate.
Enthusiast recreates Sony audio engine to run native code on PC
they used shadPS4 to translate PS4 graphics commands to vulkan to make it work on PC. but the developer also reimplemented Sony's Ngs2 audio engine from scratch to make it natively play audio. that means the game can run as native code rather than emulating the console it's supposed to be running on.
The game can run at 1080p resolution on an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 and AMD Ryzen 5 9600X. It runs at 60-75fps during actual gameplay (for example). it also runs much faster in the menus, up to 120fps in those sections (because they are static).
the developer used Claude opus as an aid in programming, helping the developer write the code in some cases. this is an early WIP and is not final or complete. Sony has not yet responded to the port nor given it any official blessing.
this is an example that The Last Guardian can run on PC, using modified PS4 code. This is the current state and you can get a look into what performance it could have on a mid-tier system. this is an unofficial project with no official support by Sony.
