An unofficial PC port of Bloodborne, a PS3 game, has been made by a bunch of indies.
Fan developers use AI to bring multiplayer and PC support to the PS3 classic
That's right. The latest unofficial PC port of Bloodborne allows players to play the PlayStation 3 game on their PC, even if the publisher never intended for such a thing. It's a huge change in how players will ever play the game, as hardware constraints are completely removed. PC users who've been waiting to hunt for their very lives since the game first launched now have a chance to dive in on today's rigs.
It all comes down to a mod known as Bloodborne Seamless Co-Op, or BBSC for short. Developer clsamg22 designed this mod to offer persistent co-op play between game instances. The mod can be downloaded for free through Nexus Mods. And BBSC goes hand-in-hand with an AI-assisted PC port to make sure the mod works as intended in a Windows-based PC.
BBSC offers up to 5 players in one co-op session. Furthermore, the mod also lets players play split-screen on a single PC, for local co-op. The technical backend infrastructure is provided by The Hunter's Dream. The latter features dedicated servers to bring back network elements like ghost messages and bloodstains. Both the port and the co-op mod use AI tech to make them possible.
The mod also plays well with the shadPS4 emulator for even more compatibility options. All of this is made available for free on Nexus Mods. According to the source text, the unofficial PC version is still in active development by its fans. That means there's a lot of work being done by fans to tinker with the game and its networking tools.
The release of this unofficial PC version is big news for Bloodborne fans. Players can finally co-op in a seamless way, free from the constraints of console hardware. The mod is also made available for free, making it even easier for new and old players to enjoy. It shows how community-made tools can keep legacy games alive.
