Strange Scaffold is reviving a cancelled project as a new PC title called Gods With Badges. This resurrection matters because it gives players a chance to experience a narrative tactics game that was previously left unfinished. The studio is stepping in to complete the vision of the original developers.

Strange Scaffold revives cancelled Artificer project as narrative tactics game Gods With Badges
The game is a reinterpretation of Hard Justice, a project originally developed by Artificer that was cancelled before launch. Players take on the role of Harrow McClellan, a disgraced police officer navigating the dystopian city of Scarhelm. Strange Scaffold studio head Xalavier Nelson Jr. described the project as one of the most ambitious undertakings the studio has ever attempted.
Gameplay centers on isometric turn-based combat and open hub exploration. Players must make dialogue choices that directly impact their law enforcement reputation. A unique mechanic allows players to disable the protagonist's body camera to unlock specific tactical options.
The title is scheduled for release on Steam in 2027. This platform choice targets the PC gaming audience directly. The release window gives the studio time to refine the complex foundation laid by the original developers.
The announcement confirms that Strange Scaffold is taking the project seriously. The studio expressed gratitude to Artificer for trusting them with the IP. Players can expect a striking and intentional narrative experience when the game launches next year.
