Respawn Entertainment released Apex Legends update 3.22 on October 6, bringing stability fixes and a significant change to how console players connect with opponents. This patch addresses long-standing technical glitches and introduces a temporary matchmaking overhaul for US-West servers. Players on PlayStation and Xbox will see immediate changes to their queue times and opponent selection starting tomorrow.

Patch 3.22 fixes Broken Moon clipping and Gibraltar audio glitches
The update targets specific issues on the Broken Moon map and with the character Gibraltar. A missing floor geometry bug in the Terraformer area previously allowed players to clip through the ground, breaking immersion and competitive integrity. Respawn has now patched this hole, ensuring all players remain on the map as intended during matches.
- Patch Version: 3.22 | 1.000.137
- Fix: Broken Moon Geometry: Fixed an issue with missing floor geo on Broken Moon in Terraformer; players are no longer able to clip into the ground.
- Fix: Gibraltar Audio: Fixed an issue with Gibraltar skydive emote audio persisting after landing.
- Matchmaking Test: Cross-play enabled as default option for all players on all consoles in US-West servers from Oct 7 to Nov 3.

In addition to the map fix, the patch resolves an audio glitch where Gibraltar's skydive emote sound continued playing after landing. These technical corrections aim to smooth out the gameplay experience for everyone. The game version is now 1.000.137, reflecting these internal adjustments.
Respawn is also testing a new default setting for console matchmaking in the US-West region. Starting October 7 at 10am PT, cross-play will be enabled by default for all console players until the season ends on November 3. The studio states this test aims to shorten queue times and tighten skill bands. Console users can opt out of this test by turning off cross-play in their settings menu.
This update follows the recent Street Fighter 6 event trailer, continuing the game's focus on balance and stability. The matchmaking test provides a concrete look at how Respawn plans to improve server health for console players. We will see if these changes hold up once the season concludes on November 3.
