NBA 2K25 is disappearing from digital storefronts later this month, a move that ends the ability for players to purchase or download the game. This delisting signals the start of a rapid shutdown for the title's online infrastructure, which impacts anyone who relies on the game's connected features. Players who have not yet acquired the title will lose the opportunity to buy it through standard digital channels.
Delisting ends purchases October 30 while offline modes stay playable
2K Sports is removing NBA 2K25 from all major digital stores on October 30. The company is simultaneously preparing to shut down the servers that power the game's online functionality. This includes the servers for the single-player MyCareer story mode, which currently requires an internet connection to progress. The shutdown affects the entire ecosystem of the game, not just the multiplayer components.
The final date for all online services is December 31. After this date, the game will no longer support multiplayer matches or any online game modes. Virtual Currency (VC) earning will cease completely, which breaks progression systems in both MyTeam and MyCareer. Players will not be able to earn or spend VC once the servers go dark. Offline modes such as Play Now, MyNBA, The W, and MyNBA will remain playable on local hardware. These modes will function without any online features or connectivity.
2K stated, "As of January 1, 2027, you’ll no longer be able to play multiplayer games or access any online game modes." This confirms that the transition to a fully offline experience is absolute. The game will effectively become a single-player disc or local file after the end of the year. Buyers who own the game can continue to access the offline content indefinitely. Those who do not own the title cannot purchase it after October 30.
