Unfrozen released a hotfix for Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era that addresses critical stability issues and adds quality-of-life features. This update matters because it resolves turn-freezing bugs that previously disrupted gameplay during specific interactions. Players can now engage with the game environment without their turns getting stuck or the game failing to load.
Stability patch resolves turn-freezing bugs and adds new reactions
The developers titled this update Lost Emotions, Lobby, and Stability. It introduces four new in-game reactions for players to use during matches. The patch also adds a special indicator that shows when interaction with heroes or objects is unavailable. This visual cue helps players understand why certain actions might be blocked in the current game state.
The hotfix resolves several technical bugs that affected tournament modes and lobby functionality. A specific issue prevented tournament battles from loading if the first date was set for day one. The developers confirmed that the first day can no longer be selected when planning a tournament. Another fix addresses a bug where launching the game from an online lobby could fail with a slow or unstable connection.
Combat and UI issues received attention in this release. The update fixes a bug where units under the Decomposition spell could not attack in melee. It also corrects a display error where the Knowledge characteristic was mistakenly replaced with Attack. Hungarian localization has been added to fill a gap in language support, and translation errors for the Refresh button in arena mode have been corrected. When we covered the last Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era update, several of the same balance and stability themes came up, and this hotfix continues that trend of refining the core experience.
The hotfix resolves additional edge cases in the lobby and arena modes. It fixes the display of the Number of Players column in the template selection window. The update also corrects the display of the number of alliances in templates. Overlapping tooltips for Dimensional Snare during arena draft have been fixed. Tournament logic now prevents battles from failing to start when scheduled one after another. The developer stated, As intended, the first day can no longer be selected when planning a tournament. This release ensures that the game runs smoothly for players who rely on stable connections and accurate game mechanics.
